What is Rheumatology?

Rheumatology is the study, diagnosis, and treatment of arthritis, joint inflammation and other painful conditions. Over one hundred different diseases may produce pain or arthritis. The field of rheumatology includes disorders of connective tissue disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus or scleroderma. Certain disorders of the muscle or bone are also included such as osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and polymyositis.

Orthopaedic Surgery:
This area of medicine focuses on SURGICAL treatment of the musculoskeletal system, but also addresses non-surgical care of musculoskeletal injuries.
